Inspired by "WHAT AFTER US?" or "what after parents are gone ?" a project proposed to be set up for lifetime care of moderately/ profoundly challenged person... is being mulled over by Approach AUTISM Society, Jaipur.
Parents of person with intellectual and developmental disabilites (PwIDD) continue to struggle and suffer in silence throughout their lifetime. Apart from their daily struggle in caring for their challenged child, the biggest worry for such parents is “WHAT AFTER US?" While themselves aging, this nagging worry prevents them from leading a peaceful & healthful life every single day of their life.
Approach Autism is one such Society comprising of parents of PwIDDs and dedicated to providing quality Day Training Program to them for past 11 years. But now it is time to move beyond this. Therefore, necessary plans are afoot to move in this direction. Besides others, this proposal is just one of the several that may already be before the founder members who will eventually decide and finalize the most manageable proposition.
Objective: To develop a home with independent - living skill training center and assisted employment generating center to secure rights and improve the quality of life of Persons with Intellectual Disabilities and their families in the country.
To provide holistic lifelong solution to PWIDs and their ageing parents.
Background & Justification
We need to make an inclusive living space for PwIDDs where they live with others in the same society.
